Mini Family Photo Sessions: the good and the bad
I'm offering film mini sessions again after a long period of resisting. Here's why I've changed my mind.
TL;DR: Film family mini sessions are live for the first time in a long time. Grab a session here. April 26th/ 27th in San Rafael and May 3rd at the beach in San Francisco.
Family “mini” photography sessions make a lot of sense. The shorter duration is quick and easy for families with young children and busy schedules. The affordable price point makes it a good choice for families who want to frequently document their growing family, and the predetermined location makes booking an easy breezy experience. What’s not to love?

San Rafael Mini Location
I’ve resisted scheduling mini sessions for the last 4-5 years because they’ve often felt impersonal. I love the idea of dreaming up a session with my clients- zeroing in on their perfect location, honoring requests for different film stocks or styles, and hearing tidbits about their kids or family dynamic that they’re most eager to remember. In a back to back mini session format, that’s a tall order.
Can we have the best of both worlds? This year I’m going for it. I’ve got two weekends of 25min photo sessions (on film, of course) available at two of my favorite Bay Area locations. While the locations are pre-determined, there’s still plenty of room to plan the session of your dreams. Whether it’s grainy black and white lifestyle shots or traditional portraits to document your children, these abbreviated sessions aim to strike the perfect balance between convenient and custom. Family sessions, maternity, portraits- I’d love to get you in front of my lens this Spring.

This eucalyptus lined San Rafael ridge has some of the best views in Marin with no hiking required. It’s a long time favorite location that’s gorgeous in all lighting conditions.
This iconic SF beach is best photographed in the morning. While the Golden Gate Bridge makes a great backdrop, there are also cypress trees and itty bitty wildflower dotted cliffs to offer some variety. Be prepared to do a little more walking at this location, but it’s worth it! I promise.
